How does RNG affect the balance and player experience?

I researched what RNG is and the impact it has on the balance and fairness of a competitive game. By looking at input and output randomness, I look at a bunch of examples of competitive games that use a lot of random for example Hearthstone and Pokemon. In order to get an idea for myself I tested a Pokemon battle simulator to get a baseline of how Pokemon uses RNG. After that I created my own simple battle simulator based on the results that I had gathered. Eventually I used my battle simulator to test multiple values in order to see when RNG gets too much and ruins the competitive experience. I came to the conclusion that if you wanted to put RNG in a competitive game then the chance of bad luck shouldn’t be higher than 25%.
